Anna On NPR

Anna was on NPR today. You can listen or download the interview here.

From NPR:

Fresh Air from WHYY, June 10, 2009 · In 1994, Canadian-born actress Anna Paquin became one of the youngest Academy Award winners in history when, at age 11, she was recognized for her performance in Jane Campion’s film The Piano. Since then, Paquin’s career has continued to blossom. She currently stars in director Alan Ball’s vampire-themed series, True Blood, on HBO.

Paquin’s list of credits includes films as varied as Noah Baumbach’s indie drama The Squid and the Whale and the three X-Men movies. She was also featured in Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous and Gus Van Sant’s Finding Forrester.

In True Blood, Paquin plays Sookie Stackhouse, a small-town Louisiana waitress with telepathic powers. Paquin earned a 2009 Golden Globe Award for her work on the show.

True Blood In TV Guide

True Blood is on the cover of the June 15-28 issue of TV Guide hitting newsstands on Thursday. TV Guide has a sneak peek at the article in the issue as well as the photoshoot and behind the scenes video of the photoshoot. The article does contain spoilers, so proceed with caution if you don’t want to be spoiled for the new season.

Unless you’ve been locked in a coffin lately, you know the hit HBO vampire drama True Blood helped ignite a true romance between stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. As telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse and Civil War–era bloodsucker Bill Compton, their sizzle is undeniable. “Our characters have had f—ing lust, romantic sex, emotional sex…” Moyer says. But as the show returns for Season 2, “it’s more like a normal relationship. They argue. But there’s a yang to that yin. There’s makeup sex.” Phew. Who wants to see these hot supernaturals paying bills and shopping at Wal-Mart?

Steamy couplings are the heartbeat of the show this season, says creator Alan Ball, so fans can expect exponential amounts of romance along with the gore, dark humor and jugular-jolting twists that are the show’s staples. Ball developed the show—set in the sweltering dirty south of Bon Temps, Louisiana, in a near future when vampires have gone mainstream—from the Southern Vampire series of books by Charlaine Harris. The drama’s become HBO’s hottest property, sucking in 7.8 million weekly viewers and scoring the network’s highest audience since The Sopranos signed off. It also helped Paquin land a Golden Globe. Needless to say, expectations for its sophomore season are high. No worries, says Ball. “There are surprises, serious heat, fun new characters and adventure.”

Trick ‘R Treat News!

As I stated awhile back, I was waiting until Michael Dougherty officially said something about what was going on with Trick ‘R Treat rather then go off the rumours that had been swirling around. Dougherty had said there would be an announcement in June, and there was this weekend at Fangoria’s East Coast Weekend Of Horrors. Info from Fangoria is below.

From Fangoria:

Fresh from the just-finished TRICK ‘R TREAT panel at FANGORIA’s East Coast Weekend of Horrors (currently in-progress), our own Sam Zimmerman just phoned in an update on the film straight from filmmaker Michael Dougherty (X2, SUPERMAN RETURNS) and star Dylan Baker (FIDO, SPIDER-MAN 3).

First up, the long-awaited film will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray THIS OCTOBER! The exact date is still being determined, but you will finally be able to see and own the film in time for HALLOWEEN 2009!

Secondly, much like the recent REPO ROADSHOW promoting REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA, the filmmakers are taking TRICK ‘R TREAT on the road from July through October!

Early cities confirmed so far:

* FANTASIA FILM FESTIVAL, Montreal, Canada July 9-27
* TORONTO AFTER DARK, Toronto, Canada August 14-21
* MORBIDO FEST, Mexico City, Mexico (MySpace)
* FANTASY FILM FESTIVAL - Berlin, Hamburg, Koln, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Stuggart, and Munich Germany - August 18-September 9, 2009
* FANTASTIC FEST, Austin Texas, September 24-October 1
* SCREAMFEST, Los Angeles, California - October 16-25
* London, UK

Third - The four-issue comic book previously announced from DC/Wildstorm will be released as a single Graphic Novel in October as well. Like the film, exact date TBA, but YOU WILL GET IT IN OCTOBER 2009!

Fourth - The TRICK ‘R TREAT soundtrack will be released in September!

Finally, new clips from the film and a brand-new trailer was screened at the panel. Right now we’re waiting for Michael and Dylan to jump on our live webcast, but we’ll be bringing you exact dates, artwork, and we should have the NEW trailer on the web next week!

Check out http://www.myspace.com/officialmikedougherty or http://twitter.com/trickrtreat for the latest updates!
