Fundraiser for Stephen Moyer’s Brentwood Theatre

With Stephen Moyer’s approval, Jean Armitage of Brentwood Theatre in Brentwood, Essex, UK emailed me asking me to post this press release. While I am aware this is a site for Anna and not Stephen (that’s SMO’s job), Anna was set to attend the grand re-opening of the theatre earlier this month with Stephen.

For all Fans of True Blood, Southern Vampires, & Charlaine Harris! An opportunity to help complete backstage facilities at Brentwood Theatre and receive a certificate signed by your favorite vampire, Stephen Moyer!

HBO/True Blood’s own Stephen Moyer, born in Brentwood, Essex, UK, is Brentwood Theatre’s first Patron. His initial effort as Patron is supporting their “Reaching Out, Building On” campaign to help fund the 2008 completion of the backstage facilities renovations. http://www.brentwood-theatre.org/

Inspired by the first gift from the USA in his honor, as heard in an interview with Stephen on the Opening night performance of “Fame” Nov 4th (click here)

the idea to appeal to ALL FANS of Stephen or “True Blood” became a reality!

This limited opportunity supporting the final phase of construction gets each £25 minimum donation a signed certificate as commemorative thank you!

Campaign Purpose: In September 2005, Brentwood Theatre launched an appeal to raise £350,000 to replace existing temporary facilities with proper, accessible dressing rooms and backstage facilities. The works commenced in June 2008, and the Theatre re-opened at the end of October, but £75,000 is still needed to finish and open the Theatre office and the new ‘multi purpose room’ in 2009 for community use.

About the theatre: Brentwood Theatre aims to provide the people of Brentwood and the surrounding areas with a vibrant, artistically challenging, community theatre, which offers a wide-ranging program in the performing arts. Visitors to the theatre number over 15,000, who come to attend a wide variety of productions. More than forty non-professional drama and music companies consider BT their “home” – bringing their finished productions (rehearsed, costumed, and set elsewhere) to this professional venue for public presentation.

Vote For True Blood

I just wanted to make a note here that I currently have very limited internet access right now so updates will be a little scarce. I do have scans and screencaps to add as soon as I get it back. In the meantime, vote for True Blood as Best Science Fiction Series and Best New Fall Show at TV.Com.

Shooting of film “Miss Irena’s Children” started in Riga

From The Baltic Course:

Yesterday the U.S. film studio “Hallmark Hall of Fame”, in cooperation with the film production company Gillham Road Productions Inc. started shooting the feature film “Miss Irena’s Children” in Riga, as LETA found out from the project’s spokeswoman in Latvia, Ingrida Nagle.

Riga Old Town with its cobblestone streets and courtyards was chosen in the competition of eight cities as the most appropriate one for shooting the film about the events, which took place during World War II.

It is the first time that a U.S. film studio shoots a film in Latvia. Academy Award winner Anna Paquin will play the lead role – Irena Sendler – the young Polish woman, who rescued the lives of thousands of Jewish children during WWII.

In 2007 Irena Sendler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She died in May of this year, at the age of 98.

Today’s Girl on Maxim.Com

From Today’s Girl:

Birthday: July 24, 1982
Hometown: Winnipeg, Canada

How You Know Her: Plays mind reader Sookie Stackhouse in HBO´s vampire saga True Blood; known to fanboys as Rogue from the X-Men movies; is the second-youngest Oscar winner ever, and stores the award in her closet. Oscars, sexuality, decaying drifters… looks like we all keep our most prized possessions in the closet.

A Likely Excuse… “I´m not very political. I´m also not American and I don´t get to vote, so my feelings are not really relevant.” –TV.com

Magazine Scans

Many thanks to Andrea for sending in scans from the October issue of SFX magazine and December issue of Sci-Fi magazine.

Also, I know I said in my last update that the screencaps for Cold Ground would be up in a few days, but unfortunately the hard drive they were on decided it no longer wanted to work. While I was able to restore some of the drive, I couldn’t get the screencaps due to space issues so I am going to have to recap the episode as soon as I get time.

Gallery Update

I’ve just added scans from the October issues of Interview and Channel Guide to the gallery. The scans of Interview aren’t the greatest since it’s an oversized magazine, but I did my best with those.

I will have screencaps from Sparks Fly Out and Cold Ground added within the next few days. Also, I want to add that out of respect for Anna and any visitors underage, I will not be adding screencaps containing nudity to this site.

Anna Paquin a lifesaver in “Sendler Story” for CBS

From Reuters:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Oscar winner Anna Paquin will play a Holocaust heroine in “The Irena Sendler Story,” a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation for CBS.

Sendler, a Polish woman credited with saving the lives of thousands of Jewish children during World War II, died in May at age 98.

The film goes into production next month in Latvia, for an April premiere. It is based on the book “Mother of the Children of the Holocaust: The Irena Sendler Story,” by Anna Mieszkowska.

Paquin co-stars on HBO’s vampire drama “True Blood,” which was recently picked up for a second season. She won an Oscar for her supporting role in “The Piano.”
